  1. A teacher who fell into teaching, much in the same way you did. Now also a bit disenchanted with the one-size-fits-all (which it doesn't) approach. Check out Montessori…a great start for kindergarten and elementary school.

  2. Read the whole Ugly thing on Viral Nova...
Just felt like saying, your son is beautiful. He didn't look to me like he had any disability, which is mostly what prompted me to read the article.
    Stay classy ;)

    2. Just read your troll report. The only thing I found ugly was the troll. I would not like to live with that kind of ugliness within. Your son is a doll! Stay strong & just feel sorry for troll!

  9. I know this has been said about your son before, and I'm sorry to have to say it again and sound like a broken record...but he is absolutly BEAUTIFUL! With those big blue eyes...holy cow. I read the FB post about the troll letter and just cant believe how someone could call him ugly, other than the fact they are ugly themselves. Keep your chin up, momma. :)

  10. Your son is beautiful and he makes me smile! I read about the troll making a nasty comment about him and wanted to say, s/he's just that - a troll. I know that must have been hurtful, but I also know that you know s/he was wrong. Your son is gorgeous. I hope that the positive comments you receive will drown out the voice of one sad, miserable, pathetic fool.

  11. I felt compelled to reply....your story brought tears to my eyes, but then I saw the picture of your son Quinn and it brought a smile to my heart! I love his amber necklace! He is adorable and aren't we all so lucky to have one another?!? You have most certainly chosen to take the high road and for that I applaud you, would bring you flowers if I knew you...

  14. To see this reaction from you is really amazing! I saw the Story above Facebook! Then i read the article and had to keep up this commentary here. I work with mentally ill humans since 2 years and i am actually 18 and love this work. I guess they are the only ones who dont loose the gratitude. In this world we arent rlly gratitude , for example, if we got a huge present like a new car to the birthday. But i see it more and more that mentally ill humans are thankfull if you just talk with them and spend youre time. Thats what you reflect from all of that. Maybe it´s hard to parenting , but on the flipside its much more amazing to see advances. I hope you will keep holding youre good will and youre straightness at all. God bless you and youre family.

  30. I'm proud to say that my little boy happens to be Down Syndrome. It takes a strong person to parent such beautiful special children. The weak troll who made the nasty comment will never know what' it's like to hold a downs child and feel such love they have for humanity. I feel sorry for people who reject special needs in any form. I feel they have rejected God. And yes I was angry for someone to comment about something they obviously know nothing about. But please know In have your back! You may never know me but we know our children and what they have brought into our lives. It's something much greater than can be explained! Your baby is beautiful! God bless you and yours

From the pictures I see of your son he is a very beautiful young man. As long as he has a loving family and friends that's all that matters . :)

  33. Just read your story on a UK news site and the picture of your little boy brought a smile to my face, he looks so happy. There are many people in this world who just love to hate and you can take comfort in the fact that your son's mum is not one of them.

  35. Your family pictures are all fantastic, but I have to say that I fell in love with Quinn when I viewed some of the little movies you posted. He is such a happy looking baby. Keep up the good work. Whoever the idiot was that posted his one-word asinine comment is just that: asinine. My daughter has a daughter with a disability, autistic, and she has received some posts from ignoramuses; but I love my granddaughter to pieces. As for Quinn: beautiful boy!

  37. Hi there... I just read about your little boy. He is beautiful and adorable. As someone who recently found out that I cannot have children of my own, your letter touched me deeply. Your baby is a gift that I can now only dream of. You are a wonderful mother. Your son is a lucky one. I still hope to adopt someday and hope to be half the mom you are. xoxo

Reading this story and all the comments makes me happy. That there are still many blessed and good people in this world.
Than there are selfish and foolish people who in there twisted mind are able to write such a terrible thing.
You have a beautiful son and his smile can only make the day a good one.
Best regards to you and your family from Denmark

  42. Megan,
I had a cousin who had Down Syndrome. Richard lived to a ripe old age mostly by himself and did awesome things in his own way. I belive the two words "ugly" and "retard" should be removed from our vocabulary. They do not belong there. When someone looks at nature they do not use either of those words. You son is special and beautiful. Perhaps with your attitude and this blog some folks may take on a different attitude. I hope that the troll that called your son such an awefull name really takes the time to read a book or compliment someone. If he does he might find out how good it makes him feel. You also are a special person and mom and perhaps your compassion will be transmitted to all the kids in your class making this a better world, one step at a time. Your views on religion are not alone. I believe that there are many roads to heaven, what ever that is to you. The bible is only a guide to that end. There is nothing I have ever read that says we have to subscribe to a specific religion to get there, we just have to be christian and treat others as we wish to be treated. Dont' keep the faith SPREAD IT as you seem to be doing. End, little Quinn is beautiful and special

  43. I see that I am not the only one who read the story about "ugly". The story have traveled all around the world it seems. I will refrain from a long post where I basicly just copy what alot of other parents have said, and leave you with this, as a fellow parent I can sympathise with you, no one want's to see their child ridiculed or hurt. I wish you and your family the best of luck and happiness in the futre. Regards a Danish father.
