Group Hug, Everybody!
Wow. Just, wow!
My recent post in response to the troll has now gone viral and I am so unbelievably grateful to the many people who have sent messages and left comments of support and love from all over the world. I can't even begin to express my gratitude; I wish I had time to respond to all your messages personally, but due to the overwhelming influx of support, this is simply impossible. So instead, please accept this post as one giant group hug. You all make this world better with your positive outlooks and selfless willingness to reach out to our family. THANK YOU!
And Quinn? He's just tickled:

He is not ugly, he still looks sweet :)
ReplyDeleteI just read the article on this on the SF Globe. Your boy is beautiful and has an amazing smile. I hope he continues to have good health.
ReplyDeleteYour response is what this world needs. If everyone was a tiny bit more like you in their hearts the world would be a place close to paradise. You have a beautiful family and gorgeous children. I wish all of you and your family the best and a life full of love and happiness.
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
David C.
I for one applaud you for that letter! Having worked in a group home with adults with Down Syndrome, most were orphans, and having experienced the truest form of gratitude from those outstanding people, I learned more from them than I have any teacher or professor. I learned more about what I am made of and I learned how to care for others. It is because of those wonderful people in that home that I have such a deep appreciation for what life truly is no matter what package it is wrapped up in. Sadly, there are still those people that have to make a jape about anything and everything just to make themselves feel something...anything at all for that matter. You and your wonderful son definitely have friend, fan and supporter in Minnesota!
ReplyDeleteYour son, Quinn is adorable. I can't say that enough. I found your story inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to tell you that your beautiful pictures brought tears to my eyes and a big smile to my face. Quinn is a beautiful, sweet baby. You are one blessed Momma!
ReplyDeleteHe is stunning! How old? In a sad way, that horrible comment made you a huge support group =) your kids are gorgeous! Your response to the hateful post made me cry like a baby! Thanks for being an example of how to carry yourself when someone tries to knock you down =)
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to tell you that your pictures brought tears to my eyes and a great big smile to my face. He is such a beautiful, sweet, happy child. You are one blessed Momma!
ReplyDeleteI have three children, none oof them have disabilities but I do work with disabled people that have all sorts of disabilities and people like that are ignorant and they don't understand they different disabilities that are in this world and how each person with a disability is so so beautiful. I feel sorry for the ignorance of people and I love your strength towards them people. Your son is beautiful and handsome in all ways I believe he will have your strength against people of ignorance sweetie.
ReplyDeleteHe is an Angel from Heaven ! :-) adorable.
ReplyDeleteStill one of the cutest boys walking this planet. Ugly? As if! He's gonna rock that extra chromosome
ReplyDeleteI'm filled with genuine happiness to see that angelic smile. Never stop doing what you're doing. The pouring out of support is due to your graceful and poignant response to the "ugliness" that was unfairly aimed at you and your angel. I think i speak for the entire community of Special Needs Parents when I say thank you!
ReplyDeleteYour son is almost as lucky to have you, as you are to have him. Never forget that.
I stumbled upon your story accidentally (because of that letter), and just wanted to say - Hi, you have a beautiful son, and I wish your family all the best.
ReplyDeleteDear Family of Quinn,
ReplyDeleteI myself had a severely disabled son of 15 years was maintained by me, then his heart has to beat unfortunately stopped. But I still have six healthy children.
And I want to tell you that I find your Quinn quite charming. He is a very handsome happy boy. I think it's wonderful that he can grow up in such a loving family.
And the photos are all so beautiful and full of love. I have the greatest respect for such a great family. I wish you all the best and a lot of health, especially for the small Quinn.
Lots of love
Jennifer Füllgraf from Lübeck
Quinn is beautiful! And he should be very proud of his strong mother!

ReplyDeleteAdorable! Just wanna pinch those cheeks!
ReplyDeleteYour son is such a cutie pie! Blessings to Quinn and your family!!
ReplyDeleteI found your story because it went viral, and I commend you for your maturity. I'm not sure I could have handled the situation as well as you did. Oh, and your little man is absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness if only everyone would smile Quinns beautiful smile!
ReplyDeleteAll I can say about this person saying this is an ugly child is what my mom always said. It will come around to bite that person or those people. You never talk about someone else's child in a negative way unless you want it to hit you and it will hit them very hard. He is a very handsome little boy and you are very blessed to have him as your child. Love and cherish him as if there is not tomorrow and he will always put a smile on your face and make your heart happy and full of joy. I wish you and your family well. Take care.
ReplyDeleteYour son = beautiful! Omg that smile! I am in love with that smile. What a better place the world is with you and your precious boy.
ReplyDeleteHe is a very cute boy. Greetings from Germany
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely gorgeous perfect little boy. :)
ReplyDeleteYou know he's a doll...wish my son would smile big for pictures! He's obviously a VERY happy baby :)
ReplyDeleteHe is so cute ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteMy brother passed me this link from Switzerland as my boy is just like Quinn (now 13!). Your little fellow is so cute and will bring love and joy to all who will know him. Fair play to you.
ReplyDeleteRead your response in an article shared on Facebook.
ReplyDeleteYou are an amazing mum :)
Your son is adorable, looks like pure happiness.
Keep it up!
Greetings from Germany.
Hi, I came across your story online and wanted to say what a beautiful child Quinn is. x
ReplyDeletethat's show 'em!!!! xo I'm a proud mama of two sons, who who happens to be autistic...bless you mama! xo to you and Quinn!
ReplyDeleteI read your post back to that ignorant person and all I have to say is that was the best response anyone could have ever written. Your son is adorable and God only gives special gifts to special people. You are an amazing mother! Good job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful little guy! His smile just made my day!
ReplyDeleteYOU AND YOUR SON are absolutely beautiful, inside and out. Your post brought me to tears. My aunt had downs and out-lived her life expectancy by nearly 50 years! She was born in a time when "those children" were often locked away. What a blessing I would have missed had my grandparents followed the norm. What a hole there would have been in my heart and in my faith. I miss her dearly. You and your son have something so very special. THANK YOU. God bless you beautiful mama!
ReplyDeleteYour blog post with your reply to that hateful person... Well played. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteIt took a mother's courage to stand up to dispicible ignorance and senseless hatred towards her child who struggles with the trials of Down Syndrome. I commend this mom for writing a letter to hopefully enlighten and call out a troll who hides behind a computer screen only to make fun of a baby who has a disability. These kind of stories always give me hope that there are great people out there who serve as a positive progression towards mankind and a brave mother who was proud enough to send a message to this coward that had nothing better to do than to spread cruelty and negativity. Your son is beautiful and so are you. What an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteYou have the most smiling child ever!
ReplyDeleteI got to read about you in context of this anonymous person that said your baby is ugly. I hope you can deal with this abuse better know. But please keep in mind, this person is in a minority of douches. There is nothing ugly about a baby with Trisomy 21, he is as beautiful as every other baby in this whole world. I am working as a volunteer with Trisomies , and I am so content that I got to know the best persons, my best friends (Trihomies :P). I am sure Quinn be as awesome as my friends with Trisomy 21. Please keep on blogging and be proud of your family,
Nicole and her mum Ewa.
your son is a beautiful little boy!!!!! take care. love......Sabine with her daughter Amelie :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness he has the most amazing smile iv ever seen.
ReplyDeleteyour children are beautiful....I have a Downs Syndrome brother who is 58....you will have many beautiful days ahead!
ReplyDeleteTwo very sweet Boys! Congrats from Germany!
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice he is a downs baby i just noticed his cheeky little smile i bet he's a right little character love to all of you XXX
ReplyDeleteI just read about you and your lovely family in a German newspaper and your answer to the troll. So your message even reached Germany ;). When I looked at your pictures afterwards I smiled to myself because you seem to be such a happy and wonderful family and Quinn is so adorable. I wish you all the best for the rest of your life :)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Germany
I just read your reply to that ignorant, sad human being who said your child was ugly. I'm so glad you posted it. I'm the mother of 4, grandmother of 8, and great-grandmother of 2 (soon to be 3). One of my great-grandsons autistic. His smile lights up the world, his accomplishments are received by all of us as gifts from God. No need to concentrate on someone who is so mean and uneducated. He/she must be such a miserable, unhappy person. Love and enjoy your son. He truly is a gift from God, and will bless you many times over.
ReplyDeleteOne word ..beautiful....His smile shines.....xxxx
ReplyDeleteOne word....beautiful....A smile that shines so bright...love in those eyes....keep smiling xxx
ReplyDeleteThe thing is.. Everybody is different. Nobody is the same but no one sees that anymore.
ReplyDeleteSeeing your son smile brings tears to my eyes. Thats live, thats a real smile you dont see that much anymore.
I have the most deep respect for the letter you wrote, and i am happy there are still people in this world like you who can respond to something so out of this world in such an respectfull and teaching way.
My very best wishes to you and your son and to many more beautifull smiling pictures.
I saw your post as it went viral, and it inspired me to write a little note. I was pretty badly bullied when I was a kid, and I had a disability, I too have been subject to much of this plain nastiness often for a cheap laugh. Well done you for your words, and your courage to stand up to this kind of behaviour. I am fully with you, I see people every day who cannot give another human being the time of day, it's a real shame. I think the more highlight towards this kind of attitude as being unacceptable the better. Well done you and Quinn!
ReplyDeleteYour son is so precious! His smile is infectious! And nothing about him is ugly!! He is such a handsome little guy!!
ReplyDeleteQuinn is perfect! I have a cousin with Down Syndrome and he has taught me more than he'll ever know. Nothing is more painful than when someone says or does something mean to your child. I know, as the mother of two children. Your response was brilliant and classy - the best way to respond to the mean and ignorant.
ReplyDeleteJust seen your response to the troll through an article that a friend posted a link to on Facebook, and had to get in touch to say two things. 1: that was a BRILLIANT piece of writing that put a lot of professional writers to shame. 2: your boy is adorable, and has a smile that could light up the darkest room.
ReplyDeleteAn article with your original post appeared on my Facebook page this afternoon, that's how I discovered your blog. Now I know where to come to get a pick-me-up smile from your darling son and some interesting stories from a thoughtful lady. You have a lovely family.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to be a fly on the wall when Karma comes visiting certain people.
I am among those who read about your story and your reply and can just say that you and are boy are amazing. Wishing you the best here from Brazil.
ReplyDeleteYour son is so beautiful and precious.
ReplyDeleteHe is simply beautiful! His smile is so full of joy & that makes him gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHow anyone could look at that baby and think he's ugly totally boggles my mind. You have been blessed with a gorgeous little boy. He is lucky to have a strong mother like you.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures you post in this blog, they're lovely and make me feel content. Keep doing what you think is better for you and your family ♥
ReplyDeleteQuinn is adorable. As a matter of fact, you and your whole family are beautiful. Years ago, I was a volunteer for a women who had Down syndrome. She lived in a group home for adults who also had Down's. She and her roommates were so honest, kind and loving. I had the privilege to see adults who lived and operated from a pure heart. The world needs people like that. They remind us how to be. Unlike the person who made that thoughtless and unnecessary comment.
ReplyDeleteYour boys are beautiful, both of them!
ReplyDeleteFirst I would just like to say that you little boy is absolutely beautiful. I know that I do not need to tell you that you are his mother and already know that he is the most beautiful little boy inside and out. What I dislike is that you, he and others like him have to be subjected to people of ignorance of such to call your son or others names like that, just to maybe try and fill their own insecurities or I am not really sure why they do it. Maybe just to get you so fired up and to get a reaction. I know whenever I see one with Down syndrome, adult or child I just melt and watched them in AWW. They are just so precious to me for some reason. I am not sure what it is when I see them I just get drawn in to them. I just want you to know again that you have a very beautiful little boy there and kuddos to you standing up for you and yours!! Take care and have a blessed day!!
ReplyDeleteI think you're fabulous. And Quinn? Nothing cuter than that happy little smile. :D
ReplyDeleteI just read your story on FB, and I wanted to tell you what a gorgeous little boy you have. It is
ReplyDeleteeasy to see from the pictures that he is happy, healthy and full of light and joy. Your response to the troll was perfect. Your children will grow up to be compassionate, responsible and happy because they have a mother who teaches them what it truly means to love and be loved. If everyone could have a mother like you, the world would be a better place.
I just need to say. .. When I first saw this come up in my FB feed, I saw the picture of a beautiful, happy little boy and it brought a smile to my face. Then I read the story... I'm fully reminded of the evil that exists in this world when I see anyone that speaks out of of hate. I'm not clean as a whistle, and I've had my bully and tough guy moments in life. I'm not the best person in the world, but I know my heart is right. I'm not sure how some people live with themselves with the way they need to tear down others... and children no less. Rock on, sister. You have many blessings.
ReplyDeleteI saw the photo of your son on a newsfeed before seeing what the article was about and my first thought ' beautiful little boy!' That smile must light up your life!
ReplyDeleteThe troll must live a very sad and unfulfilled existence indeed if they feel the need to inflict hurt on the internet to get their kicks.
Your son is just beautiful. And he is lucky to have you :)
ReplyDeleteMegan Your Baby boy is so Beautiful! God plz bless this baby and the ignorant ppl we have in this world! He is just Amazing and I would let that baby do anything to see that smile (: he has warmed my heart and made my day!
ReplyDeleteI love that you made your point in an appropriate manner. Your son is beautiful and one of God's most faithful children. The people with sever disabilities. Are some of the smartest people. You could ever know they may not be able to show what they know. But they love everyone unconditionally. We need to be more like these people. Hopefully one day this person and others like them will realize that being "ugly" in what we say and do. Doesn't make us better people over all. It may have temporary results to their self esteem. But having love and compassion for those individuals like your son. Have a better response to a person's self esteem. I have a brother with autism. He makes my life complete everyday in his actions. You are a great mother! Keep up the hard work. Enjoy him everyday. You will leave many things from that smart boy.
ReplyDelete"Arrogance and rudeness are training wheels on the bicycle of life for weak people who cannot keep their balance without it' that is for you Jusescristhd; bulling others only shows your lacks of confidence and how weak person you are; if you have issues get help and don't blame it on others... and remember what goes around comes around and it will hunt you!!! For you Megan, always held your head high. You have a beautiful and amazing family and a warm heart. Quin looks so happy and is such a handsome little boy. Your love and support are giving him strengths to face cruelty of the world which unfortunately he will experience one way or another. Take care and God bless you all!!!
ReplyDeleteHe is absolutely adorable! I love his smile, his smile is very contagious lol, you can see how happy he is and that is awesome. You are stronger willed than I am, I don't think I could have held my temper down with that troll. I just can not understand some people.
ReplyDeleteFirst & foremost any good parent will think their kids are the best. I frankly think Quinn is cute just like any normal kids and he's God's gift. Anyone out there who thinks otherwise are the true abnormal people. I trust God is fair. Have a blessed life.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to let you know that I read what happened to you on facebook. It is horrible what people will say and do when they can hide behind the internet. Your son is absolutely adorable and his smile could light up the universe. He is a very special person. Do not let people out there get to you. You handled yourself with grace, tact, and dignity that not many could muster. Keep your chin up and letting it roll off your back! Keep posting the amazing photos of your son and let a bit of his light shine on all of us!
ReplyDeleteYour little boy is such a cutie! His happiness just made my day :) thank you Quinn!
ReplyDeleteHello Megan My name is Oliver. I live in a small town in Germany. I just read from the action on Instagramm, where did you put behind your wonderful son. I want to tell you that I so proud that spoke up to parents like you am for their particular children. My nephew has cheilognathouranoschisis and I know exactly what happens to you. God bless u and ur Family
ReplyDeleteHes so sweet :)
ReplyDeleteHe is beautiful and you guys are awesome. 17 years ago, on April Fools day, we had our baby boy 2 months early. I'd been in the hospital a week already, while they tried to hold him off until his lungs developed more. The ultrasound showed that his arms and legs were disproportionate, and the docs thought the most likely reason would be due to Down Syndrome. We wrapped our heads around that idea, only to find out the night before I delivered that he did not have Down Syndrome after all...turns out he has Achondroplastic dwarfism. We raised him to be proud of his differences and as he stands on the brink of manhood, he's a happy, secure teenager, which is pretty freaking cool. Down Syndrome kids hold a special place in our hearts...how could they not? They are the personification of love and pure joy.
ReplyDeleteAlso, we added you guys to our blogroll, under the Landlubbers We Love category...yep, Brian, that's right, we live on a 39' long sailboat near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Bit by bit, we're sailing around the world :-) Your family has a standing invitation to come visit us, any time, anywhere in the world. You can stay on the boat, it'll be a bit of a tight fit, but we can certainly sleep two adults and two kids :-)
ReplyDeleteYour son is so BEAUTIFUL. I can't get over just how cute he is!
ReplyDeleteStr(ugly)ing against people with no hearts and brain
ReplyDeleteand in this sometimes "cruel" world
makes a good fighter!
Quinn you are so so lovely!
- and if anyone ANYONE dares say otherwise, just you refer them to me :)
LOVE!
Can he come tickle me too please, that smile is Contagious... *HUGGGGGSSS*
ReplyDeleteFlee (South Africa)
Your son is absolutely gorgeous, and his happy smile is utterly contagious. With the way the pictures affect me, I realize that you are so right in your assessment of the troll. He is to be pitied. If what he gets from the pictures is a desire to taunt and say nasty things, then I feel really sorry for him.
ReplyDeleteYour little boy is gorgeous. In New Zealand where I'm from, there is a project called the Super Power Baby. The project has developed a book with pictures of 70 beautiful children with chromosome disorders with the aim of educating people and showing all children are wonderful. If you get an opportunity you can check out some of the photos and the blog at http://www.superpowerbabies.com
ReplyDeleteQuinn is such a cutie!
ReplyDeleteAll I see is a beautiful happy little boy with a completely awesome Mummy. Nice work. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy elder brother has severe learning difficultys, epilipsy , brain damage and can only walk on a good day, When he was born almost 40 years ago, my mum was one of the newer generations (as it where) the generation to say no im not going to shove him in a home and forget about him, because hes not perfect (who is anyway) which is what she was almost forced to do (who is anyway?) Sadly its was a very horrid world back then Im greatful my for my brother, he's taught me humanity, respect and kindness. Your son is beautiful, happy and perfect, just the way he is, enjoy him, love him , love makes things grow. Hatred makes people ugly.
ReplyDeleteYour son is a beautiful young man!
ReplyDeleteYour children are beautiful! And you are great! I was so angry reading this comment, but your reaction was great! Yes, I hope as well, that my child will live and act tolerance and love - like all of us should do! Have a nice day, greetings from Austria!!!
ReplyDeleteYour little man is bloody gorgeous :)

Hi, just popped on here to show my support for you and your gorgeous, smiley son. Glad he's recovering from his setback and I hope the fact that this has gone viral and people are coming to show you support helps us all realise that it's just the minority who are nasty like that. X
ReplyDeleteInspirational mother and gorgeous child.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful letter you wrote to the troll who commented on your wonderful son. I have 4 children including one miracle as your son and it's always nice, even if it is abroad, to get to know other parents. And even though all children with down syndrome are totally diffrent, they also all look alike. I wish you all the best from Belgium!
ReplyDeleteI happened across your story on Viral Nova and I wanted to tell you that I think your son is absolutely beautiful! He looks so happy and I am appalled that anyone could not see what a precious gift from God this little boy is. I am sorry that you had to be hurt by the evil that people choose to spread which unfortunately includes attacking innocent children. I wish you and your son the best and want you to know that your story touched me in so many ways.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCJQAm_uKyg
ReplyDeleteyou Son is beautiful :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCJQAm_uKyg
ReplyDeleteenjoy him he is beautiful boy! I grew up with my younger brother who also has downs and he is 44 now and lives with me he is the most loving person I know he shows or feels no hate. I believe these children are gods special gift to us!
ReplyDeleteSweet littel Boy :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCJQAm_uKyg
ReplyDeleteYour Quinn is a handsome little chap. U must be so very proud and I am sure he is of you. You are such an amazing Mum not to lose it with that complete and utter numpty. big hugs to you all. Kurtis (UK) xxx
ReplyDeleteHow old was this beautiful baby when you found out he had down syndrome
ReplyDeleteI can not thank you enough for your post and article. I have a special needs son that has had brain cancer twice and has many disabilities resulting from the tumors and treatments. Some of the comments people make right in front of us are so hurtful that you just want to shelter these sweet kids but I have really been trying to just let him go out and have fun and be himself. A very recent experience had a mother and a child where the little boy wanted to know why he was in a wheelchair (asking his mom not so quietly at the park) and the Mom replying he was probably retarded. At that point I snapped. I was very nice about it but I approached the little boy and explained that my son had been very sick when he was young and because of that he had a hard time walking and doing things that most people could do very easily. Not even looking at the Mom I let the little boy play for a minute with my son even letting him push the wheelchair for a minute. Before we left the Mom looked at me and with a very sad look on her face she said, "thank you for teaching me about your son."
ReplyDeleteYou have a Sweet Son and your Son have a great Mom
ReplyDeleteOne thing is this world I cannot stand is people bullying, picking at or just in general being crude or horrid about someones disability. That goes for Adults and children. Adults should have matured enough to know better and if they have children they should make sure thet know better when passing judgement on somebody who is disabled. I for one when hearing somebody making a crafty snide comment on someones illness will point it out and make them feel small. Maybe that makes me just as bad but why should they get away with it people like that are what makes our society bad and give people bad names. By far was I an innocent child but I was taught consideration and morals. Why is it some parents fail to do that these days. I am a young (ish) mum of two and my eldest has autism. Its hard as a parent coping with the day to day struggles your child goes through and helping them understand but then its harder watching them being left out of things because other children dont understand- my point here is when I was my sons age (5) my mother taught me to involve everyone despite their race, disability or any other differeneces we may have they're still human. Why in the last 20 years has this changed so much? Why can't people understand others and their struggles etc? In my eyes we are all the same and i am ashamed and embarrassed for the person that is cyber bullying your beautiful little boy. Quite frankly they're one sad lonely individual with nothing better to do and as you said quite rightly, a coward. Your response was inspirational because im sure I could not have been so calm and strong with my response. I hope this person gets found out. Im sorry if this rant makes no sense but I got a little carried away. Anyway, massive respect for you as a mother and as a person. I hope ypu continue to show the world what a beautiful loving and happy little boy you have. He is a credit to you and you're a credit to the rest of society. X
ReplyDeleteI just read your article and all I have to say is kudos to you! It was so well written and it brought tears to my eyes that people would stoop that low to target an innocent little boy. Quinn is a very beautiful baby boy who looks so happy in all your pictures on instagram. Keep posting those pictures of your handsome, happy little boy! xoxoxo :)
ReplyDeleteHe is absolutely adorable! Good for you for standing up for what is right! Signed another proud mama!
ReplyDeleteOne of the cutest little men in this world. Only a small mutation that makes them better and more honest people.
ReplyDeletebe strong and enjoy the time with your sweety
He is so cute; and has so much to teach us about love, respect and forgiveness. Your son is the one who will rise above negative comments.
ReplyDeleteYour story came across my facebook feed. Quinn is adorable and the person who wrote otherwise does show a lot of ignorance. Keep doing what you do. No matter what we all say to the silly troll, I would bet their opinion will not change and we don't need to give people like that time in the spotlight.
ReplyDeleteDon't know who is more beautiful inside and out: Quinn or his Mom. Such pure goodness is so sweet to behold.
ReplyDeleteYou have every reason to be proud of that beautiful boy, he is absolutely adorable <3
ReplyDeleteBeautiful story and beautiful son. You are an amazing mother and I would like to believe that cruel people are the minority. The majority of people have kind, loving hearts.
ReplyDeleteYou really are a Rockin' Mom!
ReplyDeleteJust read about you and your wonderful son on a German news site. I also can only think of one word to describe little Quinn: Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteKeep on going girl, you and your family are awesome! :)
I read an article in a French journal about your response to "the troll", and saw some of your pictures. Just wanted to say you have a beautiful family!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little boy, God bless you all!! Xx from Germany
ReplyDeleteI read Your article and i think you are a very strong and great person. You have such a beautiful baby boy. Dont belive in this silly and stupid comments. I like your pictures. I feel happy and emotional when i see your family pictures. Big hugh to you and your family from germany/cologne. Lara
ReplyDeleteyou inspire not only me but many other people out there.. i really admire you a lot... just wanna thank you and bless your wonderful family.
ReplyDeleteHi! I just came across an article. I just wanted to say that people who have nothing better to do with their life, who are unhappy wirh themself find ways to hurt people even strangers. You truly are an inspirational woman, and I commense you for your blog and for being such a wonderful mommy. Your family is absolutely beautiful and little Quinn is beyond precious. Sending much love and gladbyou have a so much support on here! : )
ReplyDeleteYour Photos Show how blessed and beautiful your family are. I wish you and your family all the love and happiness. These People that are so hateful and search out to hurt People are Very sorry People. They have probably never experienced love, kindness and compassion in there life and it has left them Very bitter. Keep doing what your all doing because it Shows in his smile. Love and Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteI saw you little boys picture on MSN and the first thing that came to my mind was what a cute little boy with a very adorable smile it didn't even occurs to me that he had down syndrome until I read the article. May God bless your family and bring lots of joy and health to little Quinn.
ReplyDeleteI too saw the article about your son and decided to visit your instagram. I'm not an instagram user, so I just wanted to somehow tell you that what I could see in your photos is that you have a beautiful family. All four (?) of you. Seriously, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour son is beautiful, as was your response to the ignorant, heartless comments from the troll. God has blessed me with a special child as well who has opened my mind, heart and world more than I could have every imagined. Only parents of special needs children can understand the blessing they bring to our lives and the fierceness with which we will protect them. Quinn is as lucky to have you as you are to have him. xoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI just looked through your pictures and both of your boys are more than adorable! My daughter nanny's a 7-year-old girl with downs syndrome and we can't get enough of little Leah. Keep up the great work mom & dad!
ReplyDeleteYour son is GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeletewhat a lucky kid, (and lucky mom too), he's beautiful by the way, but then you knew that. You are his mom, so you only see him as beautiful, so let me tell you as a total stranger (and father of three), he's cute. One thing about Down's kids that I've always noticed, they never stop smiling. Wonder what it is that they know that we don't...
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful baby Quinn...my friend has a son with Down's Syndrome and I must say he is one of the most loveable little boys I have ever met. Bless you and your family!
ReplyDeleteI just read your article (fantastic by the way! Composure is hard) and I had to find your blog to look at more pictures of your adorable son!! He may be the most precious baby I've ever seen. And that smile! It's pure joy (: He's gonna have a happy life, I can tell.
ReplyDeleteMegan....
ReplyDeleteHi there, I just read the story Online about that Reader who wrote and called your son, Quinn "ugly". How can people be so cruel?! I love, love, loved the reply that you gave him!! It was very bold!! Firstly. When I saw Quinn's picture, I immediately knew that he has Down syndrome. Just like my youngest brother, who is--gasp!!--21 years old now. He used to be that little. What happened?! He is my very best friend, and we share everything with each other!! Thoughts. Feelings. Interests. Each other's rubber croc-like shoes, even!! My brother constantly amazes me!! Secondly. Quinn is--as my phrase goes--Beautifully Unique!! Which is the absolute opposite of "ugly". Trust me on that one!! ;)
Love you later, Raelyn
that is the cuties baby ever down syndrome or not, but i know where your coming from. I myself take care of special need clients and i get looks from all kinds of people, kids, parents you name it. People just don't understand and i feel sorry for them and they teach their kids the same thing just a sad sad world we live in.
ReplyDeleteHe is beautiful inside and out.
ReplyDeleteHe is beautiful inside and out.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly don't need me to tell you this, but I will anyway. :) Your son is a beautiful child. His eyes light up my screen and his smile is pure magic. I can only imagine that his sweet little heart is full of joy and goodness. God bless you and Quinn.
ReplyDeleteI just saw your blog post about the troll who called your son ugly and I was disgusted at how awful some people can be and absolutely touched by your bravery, poise and strength. I have two young children of my own and when it comes to them, I have no filter. They are beautiful and I want to share it with the world. Your son is absolutely adorable and he should enjoy every moment just as all other children should. People who judge and are so cruel are just frightened and ignorant. When I look at the pictures of your son, I don't see a boy who is disabled, I see a happy child. When I was pregnant with my first daughter and was undergoing the tests to determine if there were any abnormalities, I stopped short of getting an amnio. When some of my other friends asked what I would do if I found out that my unborn child had something awful like Down Syndrome, I remember looking at them and saying, "I've seen many people live more productive lives with Down Syndrome than those that are "healthy". Who am I to take that chance away." I'm sorry that there are people out there than are so cruel, but I'm sure it's not the first and it won't be the last. Quinn is beautiful and I wish him a long productive life, filled with lots of love. He's very lucky to have such a strong mother.
ReplyDeleteYour son is beautiful and it is so sad to think that people can be so mean for no more then the satisfaction of hurting others feelings, the only disabilitie i see here is the people who write such garbage i pray that there wicked hearts would be touched and they would learn to love and live in harmony Quinn is a beautiful spirit God bless
ReplyDeleteMy name is Bridget. I saw your post on instagram and I have to say your little boy is PRECIOUS! GOOD FOR YOU ON STANDING UP FOR YOUR SON!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful child. Look at the smile!
ReplyDeleteQuinn is an adorable little boy! His smile is contagious. And shame on those who had negative comments about him. It's a shame there are so many narrow minded people in the world.
ReplyDeleteQuinn is a beautiful little boy - love these pics!!!
ReplyDeleteQuinn is a darling little boy with the biggest and best smile ever. One just has to love him, with his smile of love. You are all a remarkable family with so much love. Great job Mom, Dad, and big brother! God Bless you.
ReplyDeleteQuinn is so adorable and I love his smile! Keep posting pics and ignore those who are negative; they aren't worth the time.
ReplyDeleteQuinn looks perfect to me in every way. You are blessed to have such a beautiful child. He absolutely makes this world a better place.
ReplyDeletethat baby is the sweetest little thing I ever saw, cute as a button
ReplyDeleteDear Mama, Quinn's smile is infectious! What a cutie! And you Mama Bear, keep standing tall. There will always be haters in this world. But the light of those with true compassion and love in their hearts will out shine them every time. Thanks for sharing your sweet boy with the world - just think of all the joy he has spread to those that have seen his precious smile. Enjoy your beautiful family! (((Hugs))) from a another mama
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little face of absolute joy! His smile made me smile and what a great gift!
ReplyDeleteThat is truly one of the most beautiful children I have ever seen! Truly kissed by the Angels and a gift from Heaven! You are one very lucky Mom!
ReplyDeleteI just needed to tell you that your son is ADORABLE. Ok, so I know you didn't need me to tell you that! In all seriousness, he is fluffy puppy, soft kitty, warm sunshine, child's laughter adorable.
ReplyDeleteI won't repeat the wonderful sentiments about your amazing letter to a troll, because they have already been said. I will say Bravo to you, and thank you for being a great mom. :) I'm sure the rest of Quinn's family is pretty amazing too.

Quinn is a beautiful child, you all are so blessed to have him in your lives.
ReplyDeleteHe's beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a very good response to someone who probably did not read nor cares. The people that read it are the ones that care or are interested. Sadly the person(s) it was directed will not change who they are until they are much older and more mature and will realize how they were wrong. Until then I would not waste any more time on them, they did not deserve the time you spent writing a long response.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately for your son there will be more idiots out there through his life...to them I say "God sees all" and to Quinn you are more than beautiful...you are perfect don't ever let someone tell you otherwise
ReplyDeleteHi Megan! I think we should be the one thanking you for such a beautiful and brave article. Not a lot of moms have the courage to speak out and protect those they love even when they have every right to do so. I applaud and admire you for being so outspoken and courageous. You have a very beautiful family and I am deeply grateful for your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gawjus..
ReplyDeleteI LOVEour babies. ..my daughter has ds and I wouldn't trade a thing about her, she like your son, is an amazing beautiful child with a magnetic personality who lights up every room she enters.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to read your response to that insidious idiot, and tho I think I am prepared mentally to respond maturely to idiots if I ever have to defend my daughter, im sure I will be seething o on the inside.. what parent wants to hear or see bad things intended for their child. .... you resoinded appropriately and thank you from us. ...good luck and good health to Quinn! ReplyDeletehe is so cute the son of my sitster also has different handicaps but he is real smart nows allot his favourite animal is a pinguin but nows a lot about a lot of things and he really knows wath he does or does'nt want he is twelve years old now en luckely stil groing i likke kids normal and with different handicaps children are all cute
ReplyDeleteWhat a joy to look upon Quinn's little smiling face. You can see his love all over him. People are crude and UGLY in this ole world, I was not brought up that way, and it is hard for me to understand. I also have a downs neifew - he is 27 yrs old and the most precious MAN anyone could ever meet. He loves the Lord and loves people and wants everbody to experience what joy he has -- and joy that he gives. He is smarter than alot of NORMAL people that I have met in my lifetime. I feel sorry that this person is ugly because he/she is actually in pain somewhere in his life that he/she has to strike out to someone that can not defend himself. I pray that he/she will turn their life around and get involved with helping mankind make a better place to live for ALL.
ReplyDeleteThat sweet little happy baby. Anyone who would insult an innocent baby is already an insult to himself!
ReplyDeleteQuinn is so beautiful. I love his smile and I can see his spirit in your pictures. He has the soul of an angel. Blees you Quinn and your family.
ReplyDeleteYour son is adorable. I cannot fathom how anyone could look at his smiling face (or ANY child's smiling face for that matter) and feel anything besides joy and love. Stay strong and continue to be a shining star for your children.
ReplyDeleteHe is darling! You are to be admired for sharing and speaking up about ignorant people.
ReplyDeleteKay M
What a Beautiful little boy!!!!! That smile is contagious!!! My pastor said years ago when one of our members had a baby with Down Syndrome, that the Lord gives these babies to the very special people in this world. May your family continue to be blessed!!!!! Quinn is just the cutest!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow can your heart not melted by this smile!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to give you some props...awesome way to handle ignorance and ugliness. There is something special and magical about the happiness in a child's eyes. Your pictures exemplify that!!!! Here's hoping you and your family the best in all that life has to offer..Take care!
ReplyDeleteHello Quinn's mama, Your son is absolutely beautiful...cherish him. My nephew is also a down syndrome boy, these children are earth angels sent to us to spread love and joy to every one they touch. http://tammyscraftemporium.blogspot.ca/2013/11/antibullying-week-november-17-23-2013.html
ReplyDeleteYour little Boy has such a georgeous smile. Simply adorable!
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful family! (not sure about your husband's facial hair mind but it takes allsorts)
ReplyDeleteI actually pity the troll who wrote about your son as the only person who has come out of this as ugly is them!
Alles Liebe. Liebe Grüße aus Österreich.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how anyone could be such an idiot and so cold hearted. When I see your little guys smile it fills my heart with joy. I think little Quinn is a beautiful handsome little man and I know he is truly a blessing to you and your husband. Be blessed and keep being awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteYou have captured that beautiful moment when a child is about to share his precious discovery with his mommie. Thanks for sharing your beautiful family. The trolls are just lonely hate-filled losers who do not have such moments of their own.
ReplyDeleteI can only pity those who are so ignorant they can call a beautiful baby "ugly". I have three children, two of which have different disabilities. We have also, been unfortunate to have been on the wrong end of ignorance, I have found that teaching our children to pity those who don't understand how unique and special they are is a gift to them. Keep your mamma bear claws out...mine are out with you! Quinn is beautiful, obviously full of joy and ever so lucky to have you as his mom!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful boy you are raising and what a wonderful job handling the ignorant comment. Your son is truly in the hands of a mother who has love, character and integrity. The world simply needs more people like you and that happy little boy of yours. Your story truly made my day, thank you for making me smile.
ReplyDeleteLeft this message for you via Facebook, before I discovered your blog :)
ReplyDeleteHi Megan,
Just a quick note to let you know that I loved your response to the person who rudely commented on your son's photo. Bravo Proud Mama!
Women like you are an inspiration for women like me!

You have a beautiful son, he is gorgeous and I cannot believe the comments that idiot made, your response was brilliant.
ReplyDeleteQuinn is adorable and yourself, admirable
ReplyDeleteI was happy to read you! As Lisa said: keep on inspirating us!!!

So beautiful your boy is. I read the story about you and about those who said nasty things on your blog. It's probably not easy, but do not listen to what anyone says. there are the ones we should feel sorry for, it is they who have such a bad life that they must try to destroy others. I have a cousin with downs syndrome and she is still the sweetest, kindest and most caring person I kjenner. Both she and her sister experienced being bullied when they were young. they got through it. Today she is 23 years old and working in a daycare a few days a week and have their own apartment. your boy is going to have a wonderful life :)

ReplyDeletesooner or later I expect such an attack and who knows 'what will be' my reaction I think maybe I'd just like to did. Your son is incredibly beautiful and her inner beauty I know exactly what you do. My son with the sdd of almost three years is wonderful just like yours. I embrace you
ReplyDeleteMy one word for him is: Perfect!
ReplyDeleteHe is so Beautiful! I real blessing!
ReplyDeleteyour son is so precious. he brings a smile to my heart.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you responded to that nasty person....bullies get away with so much meanness when they are never confronted and told that they need to behave differently. Your son is a ray of sunshine and is gorgeous. He radiates from the inside to the out. Stay strong and I wish your family and son many years of happiness and health!
ReplyDeleteI think he is a beautiful child! I love his smile and he looks so happy. As a grandmother myself I could just love all over him! Some people are just so full of ignorance! Shame on them!
ReplyDeleteYour son IS BEAUTIFUL
ReplyDeleteYour son IS BEAUTIFUL
ReplyDeleteYour son Quinn is adorable and beautiful in every way! I just want to tickle his little belly and kiss those rosey cheeks! I was feeling blue tonight, until I looked at your pictures... it's impossible to be sad, looking at such an infectious smile! :D
ReplyDeleteHello my name is Erin Wi from Auckland New Zealand, I am sticking up for you and your son Quinn, he is cute and handsome. You go girl. Who ever the cyber bully troll is will get bashed up one day by provoking the wrong person by getting punched in the head through teasing you about your son behind his back. Put them in your son's shoes make them feel how your son feels, What they did to your son what someone will do to them. What goes around comes around. They are handicapist. Yours Sincerely God Bless From Erin Wi Auckland New Zealand.
ReplyDeletehe should see an optometrist, who's ugly? that boy is the cutest! that priceless smile on your son's face is one of the world's rare treasures.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...handsome...gorgeous. And a smile that brightens up the world...
ReplyDeleteI read the article containing your response to the bully. I just want to say that your son is adorable, and his pictures melted my heart as I read the article.
ReplyDeleteYour son is absolutely precious! You are so blessed to have a beautiful bundle of light and joy in your life and he is so blessed to have a loving mother! Wishing you both many more blessings. Leslie, Tennessee
ReplyDeleteYour son looks like a beautiful, happy little boy. Just know for the 1 idiot out there that would choose to say something bad about him, there are 1,000's more that think he's adorable!
ReplyDeleteI'm a mother of 3 from France. I was shocked to read about the anonymous ( !!) comment about your son... What shows on your pictures is how happy and funny your son seems to be... Too bad if some people are unable to see it.............
ReplyDeleteQuinn is adorable! No qualification on his genetic qualities or categorizations, he is just Adorable with a Capitol A. And as a person who spends their time working with children with many different challenges ( note the absence of the term disability) I can say that Quinn has excellent prospects for an amazing life especially with a mum like you. Everyone of us has challenges to meet with our children, though some may be more visible to others, we all have our share and no doubt the person who commented negatively on Quinn has a family has had more than their share.
ReplyDeleteCute little fella!
ReplyDeleteYour boy Quinn is a very handsome & vibrant little man. I found reference to your article all the way from Wagga Australia. Disgusted in the hateful comment you received. All the best, Susan.
ReplyDeleteYour son looks like a happy, beautiful little boy. No one has the right to call anyone in this world, 'ugly' because of how they look. Everyone has someone that thinks they are beautiful. We all look different and people are only ugly on the inside! Keep smiling!
ReplyDeleteYour son is totally gorgeous and you are awesome - keep up the good work :D
ReplyDeleteYou are a superstar of a mum. As a mother of young twins I feel inspired by you. No child should ever be subject to this sort of malicous cruelty. Quinn is one handsome wee dude. Love to you and your family.
